ADC Accuses Tinubu Administration of Allowing Corruption to Thrive

The African Democratic Congress has launched a scathing on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of giving corruption unprecedented freedom to flourish. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, delivered the criticism while unveiling the ADC’s Governance Principles and Code of Ethics, known as the Orange Book.

The opposition party introduced a provocative term for graft. Abdullahi explained that corruption is now described as “economic banditry” to highlight its devastating impact on Nigerian lives and the economy. According to him, the damage caused by corrupt practices rivals that of violent crime, yet receives far less public alarm.

What evidence did the ADC provide? Abdullahi pointed to the composition of Tinubu’s campaign team as proof that the administration is corruption-friendly. He alleged that individuals facing corruption allegations have been protected and appointed to government positions, creating an environment where malfeasance can operate with considerable freedom.

The party pledged to prioritize anti-corruption efforts if elected in 2027. As Nigeria approaches the election cycle, the ADC’s accusations signal that governance integrity will likely become a central campaign battleground, with opposition parties attempting to frame the current administration’s record on accountability.
