President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, followed an earlier session of the National Economic Council chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima. The agenda of the meeting was not immediately disclosed.
The engagement comes eight days after the official commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections and days after the APC unveiled its Presidential Campaign Council.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named secretary.
The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for Tinubu and APC governors to discuss political coordination, mobilisation and campaign strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.
The APC governors are expected to play a significant role in strengthening the party’s grassroots support nationwide.
