The Peoples Democratic Party PDP has officially adopted former governorship candidate Hon Oladipupo Adebutu as its consensus flag bearer for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State. The decision was reached during the party’s governorship primary held in Abeokuta where party members and stakeholders unanimously endorsed Adebutu for the contest.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the PDP Governorship Primary Panel Chief Afolabi Ariyo who declared Adebutu the winner through a voice vote after widespread affirmation from delegates across the 236 wards in the state.

The primary attracted top party leaders and supporters including former Ekiti State governor Chief Ayo Fayose who expressed confidence that the PDP would reclaim Ogun State from the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in 2027.

Fayose described the large turnout of supporters as a sign of growing public confidence in Adebutu and the PDP. According to him the political ambition of Adebutu is now fully centered on becoming the next governor of Ogun State.

In his acceptance speech Adebutu thanked party leaders delegates and supporters for their trust and support. He assured members that the PDP would approach the 2027 election as a united political force determined to bring ce to Ogun State.

Adebutu expressed optimism that votes would count in the next election and promised to deliver purposeful governance if elected. He also urged party members to maintain peace and unity stressing that cooperation within the PDP would be crucial to defeating the APC in the state.

The PDP candidate accused the current APC administration of failing to properly utilize the state’s economic and human resources despite years in power. He stated that Ogun State needs competent leadership capable of driving development creating opportunities and improving the welfare of residents.

Adebutu also appreciated other aspirants who stepped down for the consensus arrangement describing their sacrifice as a commitment to party unity and victory.

The Ogun State PDP Chairman Mr Abayomi Tella said the successful conduct of the primary showed that the party had overcome internal crises and was now focused on winning the 2027 governorship election.
