The death of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has drawn tributes from across Nigeria’s political landscape. Prince Adewole Adebayo, who contested the presidency under the Social Democratic Party banner, released a condolence message on Saturday expressing profound grief over the loss.

Tukur wasn’t just a politician. Adebayo described him as a distinguished statesman whose fingerprints remain visible across Nigeria’s public administration, business sector, and continental initiatives. The late chairman dedicated decades to serving both Nigeria and the broader African continent, leaving an institutional legacy that transcends party lines.

What made their connection personal? Adebayo revealed he’d worked directly with Tukur through investments in Adamawa State, particularly in indigenous shipping promotion and the implementation of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development under Tukur’s stewardship. Such collaboration bridged political divides in pursuit of regional development.

The SDP candidate extended condolences to Tukur’s family, the Adamawa State government, and mourning Nigerians. He described the deceased as an experienced leader of remarkable accomplishment whose legacy should inspire future generations toward public service and national development.

Tukur passed away after a brief illness. Burial arrangements are scheduled for Sunday in his beloved Adamawa State, bringing home a son who served Nigeria across multiple spheres of influence.
