The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission Lekan Fatodu has called on business mogul and philanthropist Femi Otedola to support and champion the upcoming Lagos Cycle Fest as part of efforts to promote healthy living and environmental sustainability in the state.
Fatodu made the appeal following Otedola’s recent cycling activities in major global cities including Paris Singapore and the Maldives where the billionaire shared videos of his cycling sessions on social media.
According to Fatodu Otedola’s engagement in cycling reflects physical fitness discipline and a commitment to clean mobility themes that align with the objectives of the Lagos Cycle Fest initiative.
He explained that the Lagos Cycle Fest is an innovative sporting programme introduced by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Sports Commission in collaboration with the British Cycling Association.
The event scheduled for August is designed as a wellness focused cycling festival aimed at promoting physical fitness encouraging environmentally friendly transportation and advancing discussions around zero emission mobility in Lagos.
Fatodu added that the initiative also involves partnership with British Cycling to enhance technical capacity knowledge exce and ss development for cycling growth in the state.
He noted that influential personalities like Otedola can play a key role in inspiring residents to embrace active lifestyles and support sustainable transportation systems.
The Sports Commission therefore urged Otedola to lend his influence to the Lagos Cycle Fest and help mobilise public participation in the event.
According to Fatodu the involvement of high profile individuals will strengthen awareness and encourage more Lagos residents to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles while supporting clean and sustainable urban transport.
