The Lagos State Government has sealed Pinnock Beach Estate in Osapa London, Lekki, along with three other properties over the alleged discharge of untreated sewage into public drains and surrounding environments.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the enforcement action via his official X account on Thursday, stating that the move followed repeated warnings and abatement notices issued to the affected properties.

According to him, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office acted after confirming that sewage was being pumped directly into canals and drainage systems, causing environmental pollution, offensive odour, and risks to public health and aquatic life.

The sealed properties include Pinnock Beach Estate in Osapa London, a residential property at No 28 Amodu Street in Itire, Surulere, as well as additional estates in Ajah and Elegushi areas of Lagos.

One of the affected locations is located in Surulere, where residents reportedly complained about continuous discharge of raw sewage into public drains and neighbouring compounds.

Another property sealed is in Ajah, where officials found evidence of untreated wastewater being discharged into drainage channels, contributing to environmental pollution and blockage of waterways.

Authorities also sealed Vintage Heights Estate in Elegushi over similar violations involving the use of pumping machines to discharge raw sewage into the environment.

Wahab warned that the state government will not tolerate any violation of environmental regulations and urged residents and estate managers to comply with proper wastewater treatment and disposal standards.

He added that any individual or organisation found guilty of breaching environmental laws would face appropriate sanctions in line with Lagos State regulations.

The enforcement is part of ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government to improve sanitation, protect public health, and prevent environmental degradation across the state.
