Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afod has made an urgent appeal to the public for assistance on behalf of veteran actor Opebe, who is battling a mysterious and debilitating health condition. During a visit to Opebe’s Ibadan residence on Friday, Afod shared an emotional video on Instagram highlighting the severity of the actor’s deteriorating state and calling for immediate intervention from concerned Nigerians.
In the video, Afod expressed deep concern about Opebe’s declining health, stating that the veteran actor’s condition continues to worsen despite medical attention. The filmmaker asked Nigerians to provide financial support or recommend facilities where Opebe could receive proper treatment, emphasizing the urgency of the situation and the need for collective action from fans and industry colleagues.
Speaking directly in the video, Opebe revealed that he has been away from acting since last year due to his health challenges. Despite undergoing numerous tests at different hospitals, medical professionals have been unable to diagnose a specific illness. Doctors only discovered that he was severely anemic and administered four pints of blood, but his condition has continued to deteriorate without a clear medical explanation.
The appeal comes at a time when the Nigerian entertainment industry has increasingly rallied around ailing veterans, with colleagues and fans often stepping in to provide financial and medical assistance when needed. Opebe’s case highlights ongoing concerns about healthcare access and the welfare of veteran actors in Nollywood.
