Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner of the 2026 governorship election, securing a second term in office after defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji recorded 444,815 votes, giving the incumbent a winning margin of 66,252 votes. The governor won 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas, while the APC candidate secured 11 LGAs.

The election, held on Saturday, August 15, was contested by 15 political parties. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner early Sunday after the completion of result collation in Osogbo.

Adeleke’s victory extends his administration in Osun and strengthens his political position ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
