The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence that he will defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in a landslide during the August 8 governorship election, regardless of what he described as propaganda by the current administration.
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, made the assertion while speaking at the APC youths’ reconciliation summit held at the party secretariat in Osogbo on Sunday. He said the alleged propaganda being spread by the ruling government would not prevent the APC from reclaiming power in the state.
He urged party members, particularly youths, to actively counter negative narratives against the APC and his candidature by engaging voters directly through door-to-door, house-to-house and street-level campaigns. According to him, grassroots mobilisation remains key to electoral success.
“We must go back to doing house-to-house, door-to-door awareness about the forthcoming poll and counter every narrative of the other parties, even on the streets,” Oyebamiji said. He accused the opposition of spreading falsehoods and called on party supporters to challenge such claims and reassure residents.
Oyebamiji further assured party members of their safety while participating in campaign activities, insisting that the APC would reclaim the state in 2026. He also stated that the upcoming election would be different from the 2022 governorship poll, urging party members to work harder to secure victory.
The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) highlighted the crucial role of youths in elections and tasked them with taking ownership of the campaign project to ensure success for the party. He promised that an APC-led government would prioritise youth development and empowerment.
“Our government will be youth-oriented. There will be special provisions and programmes for youths to prepare them for leadership and governance roles in the future,” he said.
Oyebamiji cautioned party supporters against complacency, stressing that victory would only be achieved through commitment and hard work ahead of the election.
