Bola Tinubu has declared that he will seek re election for a second term, insisting that rising insecurity across parts of the country will not force him out of office.

The President made the statement while receiving Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and other stakeholders from Plateau State, where he addressed growing criticism over Nigeria’s security situation.

Tinubu said those linking insecurity to calls for his removal were playing into the hands of political opponents and what he described as hostile interests seeking to deilize his administration.

He stated that he remains determined to continue in office, describing himself as a “stubborn politician” who is committed to completing his mandate and contesting the next election.

The remarks come at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with widespread security challenges, including s by armed groups, kidnappings, and violent incidents in several regions. These issues have intensified public debate, with opposition figures and civil society organizations urging stronger government action.

Despite the criticism, Tinubu maintained that his administration is actively supporting security agencies to combat threats and restore peace across the country. He reiterated his commitment to national ility and defended ongoing security operations.

The President, who assumed office in 2023, is expected to complete his first term in 2027, when Nigerians will return to the polls for the next presidential election.

His declaration is already generating political reactions, as the country enters an early phase of election discussions alongside persistent concerns over safety and governance.

Observers say the statement signals the beginning of a more intense political season, with security performance likely to become a central issue in the lead up to the 2027 elections.
