Businessman and All Progressives Congress APC presidential aspirant Stanley Osifo has accepted defeat in the party’s presidential primary election, pledging to continue supporting the party and its candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Osifo lost the nationwide direct primary to President Bola Tinubu who secured 10,999,162 votes while he polled 16,503 votes. Despite expressing disappointment over the outcome Osifo said he remains committed to the APC and its future.
Speaking shortly after the collation and declaration of results at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja Osifo said he believed the outcome was part of God’s plan for his political journey.
“I think God knows better and God knows tomorrow,” he stated.
The APC aspirant admitted he was not fully satisfied with the result but emphasized that internal democracy within the party must be respected. According to him the primary election was never about division or hostility but about selecting the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential race.
“We are one party we are members of the All Progressives Congress we are one family,” Osifo said.
He also welcomed President Tinubu’s statement that he bore no grudges against him after the contest. Osifo described the gesture as a sign of unity and maturity within the ruling party.
According to him no politician can succeed alone and teamwork remains essential in politics and governance. He stressed that members of the APC must now unite behind the party’s candidate to prepare for the next election.
Osifo further expressed gratitude to his supporters across Nigeria including coordinators at state local government and ward levels. He commended them for their dedication and support throughout the campaign process despite the final outcome.
The businessman maintained optimism about his future in politics noting that he still has many years ahead and opportunities to contribute to national development.
His acceptance of defeat and decision to support the APC candidate has been viewed by political observers as a move aimed at promoting unity within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
