A new streaming platform aimed squarely at Latino families is making its entrance into the entertainment landscape by partnering with one of the industry’s most vibrant celebrations of Chicano and Latino storytelling. Pure Flix Familia, the soon to launch Spanish language and bilingual streaming service from Great American Media, has signed on as an official media sponsor of the second annual Chicano Hollywood Film Festival, scheduled to take place over five days beginning this week in Pomona, California. The partnership signals a significant commitment by the faith and family entertainment company to forge relationships with Latino content creators and filmmakers at a critical moment of expansion in streaming media.

The festival brings together more than 140 films alongside a comprehensive program of industry panels, filmmaker workshops, networking sessions, and cultural showcases designed to celebrate both elished voices and emerging talent in Chicano and Latino cinema. Pure Flix Familia will maintain a visible presence throughout the event, including hosting a fireside chat titled “Faith, Family & the Future: Introducing Pure Flix Familia” led by festival founder Johnny Murillo. Great American Media executives participating in the conversation will outline their vision for the platform and discuss plans to collaborate directly with Latino filmmakers on original programming that reflects the values, experiences, and communities of their target aunce.

Beyond the panel discussion, Pure Flix Familia will operate the “Spill the Café Storyteller Lounge,” a dedicated space where filmmakers, content creators, and festival attendees can learn about the platform’s upcoming launch and explore opportunities for collaboration. The company is also sponsoring the festival’s Community Impact Legacy Award, which will be presented during the closing night ceremonies on August 2. Recipients of this honor are recognized for demonstrating leadership and service that strengthens families and uplifts communities, values that align closely with the programming philosophy Pure Flix Familia intends to bring to market.

“Pure Flix Familia’s participation represents exactly the kind of meaningful industry connection we want to create through the Chicano Hollywood Film Festival,” said Johnny Murillo, who founded the event to create pathways between Latino storytellers and entertainment industry decision makers. “This is an opportunity for our filmmakers and creators to learn about a new platform that is actively looking to serve Latino families and collaborate with Latino storytellers.” The festival’s emphasis on bridging cultural authenticity with commercial opportunity has attracted attention from major players in streaming media who recognize the growing influence and market power of Latino aunces.

Great American Media Chief Financial Officer Denise Crayne emphasized that the company views the festival partnership as more than a marketing exercise. “We are honored to join the Chicano Hollywood Film Festival and introduce Pure Flix Familia to such a dynamic community of filmmakers, creators, and entertainment leaders,” Crayne stated. “Our goal is to build a welcoming home for faith and family stories while creating meaningful opportunities for Latino storytellers to bring new voices, perspectives, and experiences to aunces.” Great American Media already operates as a leader in faith and family entertainment through its existing television networks, and the launch of Pure Flix Familia represents a strategic expansion into Spanish language content aimed at capturing a demographic that has been historically underserved by mainstream streaming platforms.

As streaming services increasingly compete for aunce attention in a fragmented media landscape, platforms that can authentically connect with specific communities while delivering culturally relevant content stand to gain substantial competitive advantages. Pure Flix Familia’s decision to engage directly with Latino filmmakers and elish relationships within creative communities before its official launch suggests a strategy focused on organic growth and authentic programming partnerships rather than simply licensing existing content. Whether this approach will translate into subscriber success remains to be seen, but the early investment in community connections and creative collaboration positions the platform as a potentially significant new player in the rapidly evolving market for Spanish language and bilingual family entertainment.
