The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested a suspected kidnapper during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said the victims were abducted at Gwewan Village, Dumne in Song LGA before security operatives launched a rescue mission.

According to Nguroje, the operation followed the strategic deployment of combined security assets by the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris. The joint task team comprised police operatives and members of local security outfits.

The police disclosed that the team carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Suktu Mountain on February 11, 2026. Upon sighting the security personnel, the suspected kidnappers reportedly engaged them in a gun duel.

The suspects were, however, overpowered and fled the scene with possible gunshot injuries, abandoning the two victims. The rescued victims were identified as Rabe Mamman Sani, 18, and Aminu Mamman Sani, 16. Both were rescued unharmed.

During the operation, one suspect, Sanda Bello, 22, from Salasa Village in Dumne, Song LGA, was arrested. Police said the suspect has confessed to his involvement in the crime.

The victims were taken to a hospital for medical examination, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate. The Anti Kidnapping Unit of the command has been directed to conduct a discreet investigation.

The Commissioner of Police commended the synergy between the police and local security actors and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He also urged members of the public to report suious individuals, particularly those with bullet wounds.
