The Gombe State Police Command has announced an extension of the relaxation of motorcycle movement restrictions from 7 pm to 11 pm throughout the holy month of Ramadan and beyond.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, said the decision followed extensive security consultations and was designed to accommodate increased religious, social and communal activities during and after Ramadan.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Chuso, reassured residents that the extension would not compromise public safety. He emphasized that the command remains steadfast in maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that law and order are upheld across the state.

While welcoming the development, the command cautioned motorcyclists to strictly comply with traffic regulations and safety guidelines. Riders were advised to avoid reckless driving, ensure their motorcycles are properly registered, carry valid identification and remain vigilant at all times.

The police also urged members of the public to promptly report suious activities to the nearest station to enhance community based security efforts.

The command expressed appreciation to religious leaders, community elders and residents for their cooperation during the consultation process, reiterating its dedication to balancing public safety with respect for cultural and religious observances in Gombe State.
