The Director General of the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council for Osun East Senatorial District, Prince Thomas Ogungbangbe, has declared that the political strongholds of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke have shifted in favour of the APC ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Ogungbangbe, who is also seeking the APC senatorial ticket for Osun East, made the remarks while addressing party supporters in Iloko Ijesa after councillors and ward chairmen from Ife and Ijesa areas endorsed his ambition.

According to him, growing support for the APC across several local governments shows that residents are ready for a progressive administration under the party’s preferred candidate, AMBO. He maintained that many influential grassroots politicians from the PDP and Accord Party have defected to the APC, weakening the ruling party’s hold across the state.

“We are not ready for comedy in governance. We want purposeful leadership and that is why we are supporting AMBO to provide meaningful development in communities neglected by the current administration,” he said.

Ogungbangbe insisted that opinion polls in Osun East now favour the APC, claiming the district stands at 70 to 30 in support of the opposition party ahead of the 2026 election.

He also criticised Governor Adeleke’s administration for allegedly neglecting infrastructural development in the district over the past three years. He assured supporters that APC candidate Oyebamiji would prioritise infrastructure and community development if elected.

Speaking on his endorsement for the APC senate ticket, Ogungbangbe said his more than two decades of involvement in politics and community service have prepared him to provide quality representation.
