The Federal Road Safety Corps RS5.3 Anambra Sector Command has intensified efforts to promote responsible road use with the launch of a safer road habits campaign in Anambra State.

The campaign featured a church advocacy programme held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Igbo Ukwu in Aguata Local Government Area, where officers engaged worshippers on key road safety practices.

Addressing the congregation, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekauno, highlighted critical safety issues including pedestrian safety, the importance of wearing crash helmets, the dangers of overloading and mixed loading, safe road crossing habits and the consequences of dangerous driving.

She explained that the advocacy initiative forms part of the Command’s broader strategy to strengthen road safety consciousness and encourage strict compliance with traffic regulations across the state. According to her, sustained public enlightenment and community engagement remain central to the Corps’ commitment to reducing road traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities by at least 10 percent.

Asekauno urged motorists, commercial drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians to adopt safe practices and serve as ambassadors of road safety within their communities.

The event featured the distribution of road safety flyers and educational materials to reinforce the messages delivered during the service. An interactive session also allowed participants to ask questions and receive clarifications on various road safety concerns.

In his remarks, the officiating priest, Rev Emmanuel Nwankwo, expressed appreciation to the FRSC team for the initiative and pledged the church’s continued support in promoting adherence to safety guidelines among members.

The programme was attended by the Unit Commander of RS5.35 Igbo Ukwu Unit Command, staff of the Sector Command and Special Marshals, reflecting a collaborative push to foster safer roads through partnerships with faith based organisations.
