Costa Rican voters have delivered a sweeping victory to populist leader Laura Fernandez securing her the presidency and granting her party control of Congress. Election authorities confirmed that the results reflected strong public support for economic reform and anti corruption initiatives.

In her victory address Fernandez pledged to expand social programs strengthen public security and restore trust in state institutions. Supporters argue that unified control of government will allow swift policy implementation while critics caution against weakening institutional checks and balances.

International observers described the election process as credible and transparent reinforcing Costa Rica’s democratic standing.

Regional analysts say the outcome mirrors wider political shifts across Latin America where voters are increasingly turning to anti elishment movements amid economic pressures. Markets reacted cautiously as attention turns to the new administration’s policy direction and fiscal priorities.
