The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has declared that the All Progressives Congress remains the dominant political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Jatau made the statement in Lafia while hosting more than 20 stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party of Eggon extraction who are preparing to defect to the APC.

He assured the incoming members of equal rights, opportunities, and full integration into the party, emphasizing that the APC remains open and inclusive. The speaker described their decision to switch allegiance as timely and well informed, noting that it would further strengthen the party’s structure in the state.

According to Jatau, the development marks another significant gain for the APC in Nasarawa State. He added that he would formally notify the state governor and party leadership to facilitate their official reception into the ruling party.

The speaker also called for unity, loyalty, and teamwork among party members, stressing that these values are essential for achieving a landslide victory in the 2027 elections. He urged residents to continue supporting the administration of Bola Tinubu and Abdullahi Sule.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, team leader Alhaji Abubakar Company said their decision was driven by the leadership style and developmental strides of Governor Sule and the speaker. He pledged that the group would contribute meaningfully to the APC and work toward ensuring electoral success beyond 2027.

The wave of defections highlights ongoing political realignments in the state as parties begin early positioning ahead of the next general election cycle.
