VeryDarkMan Withdraws From P-Square Family Dispute After Public Backlash

Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan has reversed course and withdrawn from the ongoing P-Square family dispute, bowing to mounting pressure from fans, celebrities, and internet users who demanded he stay out of the celebrated music duo’s internal affairs. His decision to step back marks a significant shift from his earlier defense of Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager at the center of allegations involving financial mismanagement and family discord.

The controversy escalated after Peter Okoye publicly accused his twin brother Paul and their older brother Jude of various grievances, presenting evidence online that quickly garnered support from Nigerian and international celebrities. Among those who weighed in was Liberian actor Frank Artus, who issued a pointed warning to VeryDarkMan in a video message, urging the activist to remove himself from the Okoye family saga. The widespread criticism focused on VeryDarkMan’s perceived attempt to deflect attention from Peter’s serious allegations and his seemingly one-sided defense of Jude.

In a video posted Sunday evening, VeryDarkMan announced his withdrawal while simultaneously offering a more nuanced assessment of the situation. He distributed blame across multiple parties, assigning 40 percent responsibility to Jude, 30 percent to Peter, and the remaining 30 percent to extended family members and Peter’s wife. The activist specifically faulted Jude for refusing to step down as the group’s manager when Peter explicitly requested new management amid concerns about how finances were being handled.

VeryDarkMan addressed his critics directly, acknowledging the avalanche of insults he received while maintaining that public criticism comes with the territory of social commentary. He claimed his revised position brought balance to the public discourse surrounding the P-Square matter, though many observers viewed his about-face as a capitulation to popular opinion rather than a genuine reassessment of the facts. His initial involvement had sparked debate about the role of social media activists in private family disputes, particularly when those disputes involve beloved public figures.

The P-Square saga represents the latest chapter in a turbulent history for the iconic twin duo, whose music dominated African pop charts for over a decade before their first public split. Peter and Paul Okoye have reunited and separated multiple times over the years, with family dynamics, management decisions, and creative differences repeatedly driving wedges between them. Jude Okoye’s dual role as both elder brother and business manager has long been a source of tension, creating a complex web of familial loyalty and professional grievances that defies easy resolution.

As VeryDarkMan exits the controversy, he revealed plans to shift his focus toward preparing for a police panel hearing regarding separate allegations he made against Assistant Inspector General Jimoh Moshood. Whether his withdrawal will meaningfully impact the P-Square dispute remains to be seen, though the overwhelming public support for Peter suggests that fans have already chosen sides in this family drama. For the Okoye brothers, the path forward likely requires private reconciliation rather than continued public warfare, though their history suggests that peace may remain elusive for one of Africa’s most talented yet troubled musical partnerships.
