Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has openly criticised President Bola Tinubu over his bid for a second term, arguing that the current economic situation in Nigeria does not justify another four years in office.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Speed Darlington questioned the administration’s performance since it assumed office in 2023, accusing it of policy failures, economic mismanagement, and worsening insecurity across the country.
The singer particularly faulted the removal of fuel subsidy, saying it triggered a chain of economic difficulties that have increased the cost of living for Nigerians.
According to him, the policy decision affected virtually every sector of the economy and contributed to inflation and fuel price inility.
He argued that Nigerians are already struggling under current conditions and warned that a second term under the present administration would be disastrous.
“From your first term, we already know that your second term is going to be hell fire,” he said.
Speed Darlington also questioned the president’s competence, stating that the government has not done enough to address rising insecurity and economic hardship.
“You’re not qualified again. You don’t know the job. You haven’t done anything about the rising insecurity across Nigeria,” he added.
The comments have sparked reactions online, with supporters and critics debating both the singer’s remarks and the broader economic challenges facing the country.
