Toyin Abraham Mourns Oyo Abductions, Calls for Urgent Action on Insecurity

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has expressed deep sorrow over the recent abduction and ing incidents involving teachers and children in Oyo State and other parts of the country.

In a post shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the actress described the situation as heartbreaking and emotionally devastating, especially given her personal and cultural ties to Oyo State.

Abraham said her heart is “deeply heavy” over the violence, noting that innocent lives have been lost, families have been thrown into mourning, and communities have been traumatised by ongoing insecurity.

She extended her condolences to families affected by the s, particularly those in Oriire Local Government Area, where children and teachers were abducted during recent incidents.

The actress stressed that no Nigerian should be forced to live in fear, adding that children should not be afraid to go to school and families should not wake up to news of violence and ings.

While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies and the Oyo State Government, she called for more urgent and decisive actions to ensure the release of abducted victims and to prevent future occurrences.

Abraham also urged authorities to strengthen security across communities and appealed for unity, compassion, and collective responsibility in addressing the rising insecurity in the country.

She further questioned what measures are being taken to prevent repeated s, insisting that violence must not be normalised in Nigeria.

The actress prayed for comfort for grieving families and peace for the nation, as reports continue to emerge of violent incidents, including the ing of a abducted teacher and other s in parts of Oyo and Katsina States.
