Solomon Dalung isn’t holding back. The former Minister of Youth and Sports Development under the Buhari administration has made a bold call for Nigeria to bring back fuel subsis, arguing that their removal has done nothing for everyday citizens.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show this Tuesday, Dalung delivered a scathing assessment of the current state of affairs. “The withdrawal of fuel subsidy has not benefited Nigerians,” he declared. “Rather, it has benefited the few people in government.” His words cut straight to a question many Nigerians are asking: who actually gained from this policy shift?
Dalung went further, alleging that the government lacks the ability to tackle corruption. He claimed its very foundation rests on corrupt practices, making meaningful reform nearly impossible. Those are strong words from someone who once sat in the federal cabinet.
Still, the ex-minister found soing to praise. He commended President Bola Tinubu for pushing the National Assembly to pass the state police Act, though he cautioned that Nigerians shouldn’t expect immediate results. According to Dalung, the benefits will take considerable time to materialize.
