The Rivers State House of Assembly has resolved to proceed with the process of removing Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, despite growing calls for political reconciliation and dialogue. According to the Assembly members, all factions within the House have now agreed to continue with the impeachment process. The lawmakers stated that their ce in position was based on the conviction that the executive arm had shown no willingness to retrace its steps or address the concerns raised by the legislature.
The Assembly insisted that its actions are in line with constitutional provisions and legislative oversight responsibilities. Lawmakers argued that repeated efforts to seek reconciliation and dialogue had failed, leaving them with no option but to move forward with the impeachment process.
