Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the African Democratic Congress, declaring his intention to remain with the party despite growing inility within opposition ranks.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Rhodes Vivour acknowledged the challenges facing opposition politics in Nigeria, noting that recent developments have led some members to defect to other platforms. He described the current period as a defining moment, marked by political uncertainty and difficult decisions.

According to him, those who have chosen to leave deserve understanding rather than criticism. He emphasized that all actors in the opposition space share a common goal of building a better Nigeria, even if their strategies differ.

Rhodes Vivour, however, made it clear that he would not be joining the wave of defections. He described the African Democratic Congress as a platform he has helped build and believes can still deliver electoral success. He stressed that his decision is rooted in principle rather than convenience or political advantage.

Reflecting on his political journey, he explained that his moves from KOWA to the Peoples Democratic Party and later to the Labour Party were all guided by conviction. He stated that he has always prioritized integrity and service over personal gain.

He also reiterated his stance against the ruling party in Lagos, insisting that he has never compromised his values despite opportunities to do so. Rhodes Vivour revealed that he rejected offers that conflicted with his beliefs, maintaining consistency in his political approach.

He concluded by highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen opposition structures across Lagos, particularly through grassroots mobilization and coordination at the ward and local government levels.
