Ndume Commends Troops Over Rescue of Abducted Victims in Borno

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume representing Borno South has praised the Federal Government and troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI for their efforts in rescuing victims abducted by terrorists in Borno State.

Ndume described the rescue of some of the 416 abducted persons mostly women and children from Ngoshe village in Gwoza Local Government Area as a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against insurgency. The ers were suspected members of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province.

Speaking in Maiduguri, the senator noted that several captives have regained freedom since the incident, including six additional victims rescued on May 1 2026 and reunited with their families. The operation followed sustained military offensives and air strikes targeting terrorist hideouts in the Mandara Mountains and surrounding areas known for insurgent movements.

While commending the military, Ndume urged the Borno South Youth Alliance and its president Samaila Kaigama to work closely with security agencies. He cautioned against politicising sensitive security matters, especially claims of acting as intermediaries between the government and insurgents.

According to him, any individual claiming contact with abductors should immediately liaise with relevant authorities to ensure coordinated rescue efforts and avoid complicating ongoing operations.

Ndume also expressed condolences to families of victims ed during a recent on Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area. Six people lost their lives in the нападение, which he described as tragic and painful.

He, however, commended troops for their swift response in repelling the ആക്രമение, noting that their intervention prevented further casualties and destruction.

The senator reaffirmed his support for the armed forces and called for continued collaboration among stakeholders to restore peace and security in the North East region.
