The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has described the All Progressives Congress presidential primary held in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as peaceful, transparent, and well organised.

Lokpobiri made the remarks while speaking to journalists in Ward 8, Ekeremor, where he commended APC members for their orderly conduct during the exercise, which is part of the party’s ongoing process to select its candidate for the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the presidential primary forms part of a broader series of party primaries already conducted for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly elections.

He explained that although he was unable to vote due to his status as a political appointee, he participated as an observer and was satisfied with the smooth conduct of the process across the local government area.

The minister noted that Ward 8 alone has over 13,000 registered APC members and praised the peaceful atmosphere recorded during the exercise. He added that similar reports of orderliness were received from all 12 wards in Ekeremor.

Lokpobiri expressed confidence in the unity of the APC in Bayelsa State, stating that the party remains strong and fully prepared for the 2027 general elections.

He further declared that the APC enjoys overwhelming dominance in the area, insisting that opposition parties have little presence left in the state’s political landscape.

The minister also predicted a landslide victory for the ruling party in Ekeremor during the 2027 elections, claiming that the APC could secure an overwhelming majority of votes in the local government area.

He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s popularity within the party, noting that the presidential primary results reflected total support for the President among APC members in the state.

Lokpobiri concluded that the level of unity and mobilisation within the APC demonstrates the party’s readiness for future elections and its confidence in securing strong electoral outcomes across Bayelsa State.
