Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has commissioned a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, marking a fresh step in political mobilization within the state.
The radio station is located inside the office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt and is expected to serve as a platform for disseminating political messages across Rivers State. The development comes amid increased political activities connected to preparations for the 2027 general elections.
A video of the commissioning ceremony was shared on Saturday by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, through his X account. The footage showed the minister inspecting the radio facility, walking through the studio, and interacting with staff members. Olayinka described the station as a strategic tool for advancing the Renewed Hope message in the state.
Speaking during the commissioning, Wike said the radio station would play a key role in reaching grassroots communities across Rivers State. According to him, the station is designed to transmit messages to people in all wards and local government areas of the state, ensuring wide coverage and consistent engagement.
He expressed confidence in the readiness of the political structure behind the station, stating that the team is prepared for the task ahead. Wike emphasized that the elishment of the radio station reflects a commitment to effective communication and political organization ahead of the next election cycle.
