The faction of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark has dismissed reports suggesting it is in talks with the Peoples Redemption Party, insisting its priority remains an ongoing legal battle that could shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group is currently awaiting a decisive ruling from the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which is set to hear its appeal against a lower court judgment restraining Mark from parading himself as the party’s national chairman.
Addressing the speculation, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi described claims of alliance talks as false and misleading. He emphasized that the party leadership is not engaged in any negotiations with other political platforms, noting that the focus is on overturning what it considers unlawful actions affecting its leadership.
According to Abdullahi, the legal fight goes beyond party politics and touches on the broader integrity of Nigeria’s democratic system. He added that the faction remains committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting multiparty democracy.
