The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed off Flourish Hotel, located at New Ipaja Scheme II, Ipaja Housing Estate, Lagos, over persistent noise pollution and other environmental infractions.

The agency disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, noting that the action forms part of its intensified enforcement drive against environmental offenders across the state.

According to LASEPA, the enforcement exercise was carried out on Friday after repeated violations of Lagos State environmental regulations by the hotel. The agency stated that investigations revealed the facility consistently breached stipulated environmental standards, particularly with excessive noise levels that disturbed residents in the area.

“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency today sealed off Flourish Hotel located at New Ipaja Scheme II, Ipaja Housing Estate, AIT opposite Obasanjo Bridge Roundabout, Lagos, over persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations,” the statement read.

LASEPA added that the activities of the hotel constituted a public nuisance and posed potential risks to public health, prompting the decisive enforcement action.

Speaking during the exercise, the General Manager of LASEPA, Mr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring strict compliance with environmental laws. He noted that noise pollution and other environmental abuses significantly affect residents’ quality of life and overall well-being.

Ajayi said the sealing of the facility underscores LASEPA’s determination to uphold environmental standards and promote a cleaner, healthier, and more liveable Lagos State. He further urged residents and business operators to adhere strictly to environmental regulations to avoid sanctions.

He emphasized that the agency would continue to operate a zero-tolerance policy against environmental infractions, stressing that compliance with environmental laws is essential to achieving sustainable development and environmental safety across the state.

  • I think LASEPA is being too harsh on Flourish Hotel. Noise pollution is everywhere, why single them out? #UnfairTreatment

  • I dont understand why Flourish Hotel is being targeted for noise pollution. Shouldnt there be a fair assessment of all elishments?
