Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has mocked the African Democratic Congress following the reported defection of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi to the New Democratic Congress.
In a post shared on X on Thursday, Keyamo used a romantic analogy to describe the political development. He compared the ADC to a bachelor who failed to commit to a valued partner, leading to her departure for another suitor willing to offer stronger assurance and commitment.
According to Keyamo, the situation reflects a scenario where a man deeply admires a woman but refuses to make her his first choice. He said the woman, knowing her worth, eventually leaves for someone who immediately recognises her value and offers the commitment she deserves.
The minister suggested that Obi’s exit from the ADC mirrors this type of relationship breakdown. In his analogy, Obi represented the highly valued partner, while the ADC was portrayed as the disappointed party reacting emotionally after losing someone important.
Keyamo’s remarks followed reports that Obi resigned from the ADC over ongoing internal disputes and legal battles within the party. Political observers believe the former presidential candidate may now align with former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections.
