Prince Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother of detained Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu, has reached out to imprisoned former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai with a pointed message about solidarity and justice. The African Democratic Congress chieftain has been in detention for several months facing corruption charges and allegations of wiretapping National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu during his time in office.
In a Facebook post addressed directly to El Rufai, Prince Emmanuel drew parallels between the former governor’s current predicament and his brother’s prolonged detention. He suggested that had El Rufai defended Nnamdi Kanu when he was arrested, similar solidarity would now be extended to the former minister. The message emphasized that injustice recognizes neither tribal nor religious boundaries, reminding El Rufai that what hurts him today has hurt others yesterday.
Meanwhile, African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has made explosive revelations about saving former President Olusegun Obasanjo from an alleged assassination attempt during his imprisonment. Speaking in an interview, Atiku claimed he leaked information about a planned lethal injection intended to Obasanjo, warning him to refuse any such medical procedure. He stated that a similar od was allegedly used against the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.
The former Vice President, who served under Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007, expressed disappointment that the former president now seeks to turn public opinion against him. Atiku attributed this hostility to his opposition to Obasanjo’s controversial third term ambition, highlighting the complex and often bitter nature of Nigerian political relationships that persist long after officials leave office.
