The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the sale of 2026 Direct Entry application forms to May 8, in a move aimed at giving more candidates additional time to complete their registration and ensuring wider access to higher education opportunities.
According to a statement by the Board’s spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, the extension reflects ongoing efforts to prevent eligible applicants from being excluded from the admission process due to time constraints or technical challenges.
To further ease registration pressure, JAMB also approved five additional centres across the country. These include the Centre for Open and Distance Learning at the University of Ilorin in Kwara State, Bells University of Technology in Ota, Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, the Prof. Usman E Learning Centre at the Federal College of Education Special in Oyo State, and Human Development Initiatives in Iwaya, Lagos, which is scheduled to begin operations from April 30, 2026.
The Board emphasized that its offices nationwide, including Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres, remain fully operational to support applicants throughout the registration period.
JAMB stated that the decision is part of its broader commitment to expanding access to tertiary education and improving the efficiency of its admissions process. It encouraged prospective candidates to take advantage of the extended timeline to complete their applications without unnecessary delay.
The development comes amid growing demand for Direct Entry admissions, as more candidates seek alternative pathways into universities and other tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
