The management of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has dismissed claims by consultant Sally Tibbot Limited alleging a N13.7 billion payroll fraud involving the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Adebooye, and 249 staff members.
Addressing journalists on Saturday, Prof. Adebooye described the allegations as false, misleading, and damaging to the university’s reputation. He emphasized that all personnel on the payroll are verifiable and duly employed, noting that a statewide personnel verification exercise in May/June 2023 confirmed the legitimacy of all staff.
Prof. Adebooye criticized the consultant’s odology, highlighting that the verification of 1,017 staff members in one day was unmanageable, given the limited personnel and resources provided. He revealed that UNIOSUN currently employs 1,463 workers, including 628 academic staff, 466 non-teaching staff, 235 support staff, and 134 corps members.
The Vice-Chancellor has threatened legal action and demanded a public apology from Sally Tibbot Limited. Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (SSANU) chairman, Comrade John Adebayo, also condemned the consultant’s report, questioning the professionalism of the audit.
