The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the commencement of recruitment for ad hoc staff ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
In a statement shared via its official X account, the commission said applications are now open for several election duty roles, including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers, and RATECHs.
The application process began on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and will close on Sunday, May 18, 2026. Interested candidates are required to apply through the official recruitment portal https://pres.inecnigeria.org

According to the commission, eligibility requirements vary by position. Supervisory Presiding Officers must be civil or public servants within Grade Levels 10 to 14 or qualified INEC staff within the same grade range.
For Registration Area Centre Managers, applicants must be heads of schools or staff of institutions or public buildings designated as registration centres, with at least Grade Level 07 and above.
Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers must include serving corps members, penultimate tertiary institution students with ICT knowledge, MDA staff with OND qualifications, INEC staff within specified grades, or former corps members not later than 2023.
For RATECH positions, applicants are expected to have ICT backgrounds or be qualified INEC ICT staff not engaged in other duties.
INEC emphasized that all applicants must not be members of political parties or individuals who have shown support for any candidate or party. Candidates must also reside in the state where they intend to serve, except for RATECH roles.
The commission noted that the recruitment exercise is part of preparations for the upcoming off cycle governorship election in Ekiti State, where incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress is seeking re election.
INEC assured Nigerians that the process is designed to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and credibility in the conduct of the election.
