Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has dismissed claims of a disagreement between him and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, describing such reports as unfounded speculation.
The clarification comes amid political discussions following a recent consensus arrangement facilitated by the governor among aspirants for various political offices in the state. Concerns had surfaced in some quarters suggesting that candidates allegedly preferred by Umahi were sidelined during the process.
However, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru firmly denied any form of rift with his predecessor. He emphasized that both leaders remain united and committed to the progress of their political party in Ebonyi State.
According to the statement, claims of discord are being fueled by individuals attempting to create division within the party. The governor maintained that there is strong collaboration between him and Umahi, stressing that their shared goal is to strengthen party unity and ensure political ility in the state.
Governor Nwifuru also addressed concerns arising from the consensus arrangement, assuring party members that all outstanding issues would be resolved through dialogue. He reiterated his commitment to fairness, noting that all aspirants would be treated equally in accordance with agreements reached by party stakeholders.
He further disclosed plans to engage directly with the affected aspirants to ensure transparency and inclusiveness in the process. The governor urged party members, aspirants, and stakeholders to remain calm, united, and willing to make sacrifices for the overall interest of the party.
In addition, Nwifuru expressed gratitude to party stakeholders for their contributions and cooperation, describing the party as a united and indivisible entity focused on collective success.
