Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, has declared his hope that President Bola Tinubu will mark the end of what he describes as Nigeria’s succession of embarrassing presidents. Speaking in response to a controversial meeting between Tinubu and Catholic bishops, Adebayo painted a stark picture of presidential conduct that he believes falls far short of national expectations.
The controversy erupted following a visit by a delegation from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria to the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, July 28. Archbishop Emeritus of the Abuja Catholic Archdiocese, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, revealed that Tinubu had rejected their concerns about the severe economic hardship facing ordinary Nigerians.
