Gombe ADC Faction Rejects Rival’s Claimed ADC Headquarters

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has told members to ignore a newly unveiled party office that was opened by the camp of former Senate President David Mark. Gombe said in a statement that the Mark group has no constitutional, moral, or legal right to act for the party.

He described the move as an unlawful attempt to take over the party leadership and urged Nigerians, party supporters, and key institutions  especially the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the media  to accept orders only from the “authentic ADC National Secretariat.”

The statement read, “The authentic National Working Committee, NWC, duly recognized by the party’s constitution and a majority of its organs, wishes to state categorically: The faction is illegitimate. The group led by Senator David Mark is an aggrieved splinter group operating outside the elished structures of the ADC. Their actions are a product of their failure to subvert the party’s internal democratic processes for their personal ambitions.

“The ‘headquarters’ is inauthorized: The building being paraded as a ‘new national headquarters’ is not the official seat of the African Democratic Congress. It is a private facility of an illegitimate association and has no affiliation with the authentic ADC.

“An anti-democratic act: This move is a desperate, anti-democratic gambit aimed at creating confusion and misleading the public. It is a direct assault on the will of the party’s membership and a violation of our constitution.

“The legitimate leadership of the ADC remains steadfast in its commitment to providing a credible alternative for the Nigerian people. We will not be deterred by the activities of a few individuals seeking to undermine our collective progress.

“We are currently pursuing all legal and constitutional avenues to restore order and sanction these actions accordingly. The ADC remains focused on its mission to rescue and rebuild Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens.”

Gombe stressed that the legitimate party organs will use legal steps to challenge the rival group and to protect the party’s rules and unity.

  • I think both factions need to focus on unity rather than claiming headquarters. Its counterproductive and divides the party.

  • I believe this whole ADC headquarters drama is just a distraction from the real issues at hand. Lets focus on moving forward together.

  • I dont buy the Gombe ADC factions rejection of the rivals claim. Soing fishy is going on here. Trust no one!

  • I think the Gombe ADC factions rejection of the rivals claim is just stirring up unnecessary drama. Cant they just work together?

  • I cant believe the drama in Gombe ADC! Who should we believe about the headquarters? This is getting juicy!
