President Bola Tinubu has called on traditional rulers across Nigeria to emulate the leadership qualities of elder statesman Oba Olu Falae, emphasizing the need for unity, peace, and national cohesion in the face of current challenges.
The President made this appeal at the public presentation of Falae’s autobiography, The Triumph of Grace. Represented by George Akume, Tinubu described the event as more than a book launch, noting that it celebrated a life marked by discipline, resilience, and commitment to national progress.
Tinubu praised Falae’s extensive career in public service, highlighting his contributions as a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Minister of Finance. According to the President, Falae demonstrated exceptional discipline, sound judgment, and dedication to national development, leaving a lasting impact on Nigeria’s governance and economic management.
He further commended Falae’s role as a traditional ruler, describing him as a custodian of culture and a bridge between tradition and modern governance. Tinubu also acknowledged his leadership in Afenifere, where he consistently advocated for unity, good governance, and the advancement of Yoruba interests within the federation.
Calling on royal fathers to rise to the nation’s pressing security and social challenges, Tinubu stressed that traditional institutions remain vital partners in governance. He urged them to promote dialogue, discourage violence, and foster unity among diverse communities.
In his remarks, former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko described the book as a significant contribution to Nigeria’s historical and policy discourse. He noted that the 501 page autobiography provides deep insights into the country’s political and economic evolution over the past five decades.
Other dignitaries at the event included former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, represented by Yayale Ahmed, as well as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and elder statesman Babagana Kingibe.
Tinubu concluded by congratulating Falae, stating that the autobiography would serve as a valuable guide for younger generations, offering lessons in perseverance, patriotism, and integrity.
