The Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Jibrin Isah, has declared that his political relationship with Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has broken down following his defeat in the recent senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking after the primary election, the senator stated that “the battle line has been drawn” between him and the governor, alleging that the process was marred by irregularities and deliberate manipulation aimed at preventing his victory.

Jibrin, who was among seven aspirants contesting for the APC senatorial ticket, accused government agents of hijacking electoral materials meant for the exercise. According to him, electoral officers failed to appear in several wards across Kogi East, including his own ward where only two votes were reportedly recorded in his favour.

The lawmaker explained that he arrived at his polling unit expecting to participate in the exercise but discovered that no electoral officials or voting materials had been deployed. He claimed the same situation occurred in many other wards, preventing party members and supporters from voting.

According to the senator, the alleged absence of officials and election materials was a calculated attempt to frustrate his supporters and influence the outcome of the primary election in favour of other interests.

Jibrin further stated that his performance and constituency projects across Kogi East had strengthened the APC in the district and would continue to benefit the party and President in future elections.

The senator expressed disappointment over what he described as unfair treatment despite his loyalty and commitment to Governor Ododo and the APC leadership. He alleged that the governor acted against him after receiving information that he planned to challenge for the governorship position in the future.

Reacting to the development, Jibrin declared his intention to contest for the governorship seat against Ododo when the opportunity arises, signaling what could become a major political rivalry within the APC in Kogi State.
