Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has reflected on how Lagos State played a major role in shaping both his music career and personal development.
The Sungba crooner revealed that after graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, he moved to Lagos, where he experienced significant growth that he described as a transition into manhood.
Speaking in a recent interview with Spotify, Asake explained that the city influenced his lifestyle, mindset, and creative direction, adding that many of his hit songs were inspired by experiences and energy drawn from Lagos.
He stated that Lagos taught him how to navigate life as an adult and also served as a major source of inspiration for his music career.
The award winning artist also expressed gratitude for his global recognition, noting that many talented musicians remain unheard despite their abilities. He said he considers himself fortunate that his music has gained both local and international attention.
According to him, his success is a reflection of divine grace, as he acknowledged that his talent has taken him beyond expectations and allowed him to reach aunces around the world.
Asake has risen rapidly in the Nigerian music industry in recent years, becoming one of the most prominent voices in the Afrobeat and street pop fusion space, with several chart topping songs and international performances to his credit.
