Members of the All Progressives Congress in Alimosho Federal Constituency have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term and also backed Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat as the preferred candidate to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu in the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced during a stakeholders meeting held on Saturday, where party leaders called for unity ahead of future elections. The gathering was convened by APC leader in Alimosho, Mr Adebisi Yusuf, alongside former deputy governor and presidential aide, Mrs Joke Orelope Adefulire.
According to Yusuf, the meeting was aimed at uniting party members after internal disagreements that reportedly affected the party’s performance in the 2023 general elections.
He stressed that Alimosho, one of the largest voting blocs in Lagos State, must be fully mobilised to support President Tinubu’s re election bid in 2027.
Stakeholders also expressed strong support for Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as a capable successor to Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu. Yusuf claimed Hamzat’s experience as commissioner and deputy governor positions him for higher leadership responsibility.
The group also endorsed several incumbent lawmakers from the constituency for re election. These include Senator Idiat Adebule, Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, Kehinde Joseph, and Lukmon Olatunji Orelope.
Leaders at the meeting praised the lawmakers for their representation and contributions, noting that continuity would strengthen development projects and political influence for Alimosho at both state and national levels.
Yusuf also described Kehinde Joseph as a strong grassroots mobiliser whose return to the National Assembly could enhance infrastructure development in the constituency.
On Adele Ayuba, he said the lawmaker had become a unifying figure through active engagement and consultations, adding that supporting his re election would demonstrate renewed party cohesion.
The stakeholders further urged party members to avoid internal divisions, warning that personal interests and disunity had previously weakened the party’s electoral strength in the area.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to mobilise votes for the APC in upcoming elections and to strengthen internal unity across Alimosho Federal Constituency.
