Zamfara APC Congress Strengthens Party Unity Says Governor Lawal

Governor Dauda Lawal has emphasized that the strength of any government is directly linked to the ility of its political foundation, as he participated in the state congress of the All Progressives Congress held in Gusau.

The congress took place at the Trade Fair Complex and brought together 745 delegates drawn from 147 wards across the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State. During the exercise, a new State Executive Committee was elected through a consensus process, reflecting unity within the party ranks.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the newly elected executives were formally affirmed by Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who chaired the congress committee.

Governor Lawal described the congress as both timely and strategic, noting that it reinforces internal democracy while strengthening party structures at grassroots and state levels. He commended the national leadership of the party for its guidance and commitment to democratic principles, as well as the congress committee for conducting what he termed a transparent and professional exercise.

The governor highlighted the importance of unity, discipline, inclusiveness, and service, stressing that a cohesive political platform is essential for effective governance. He reiterated that his administration remains focused on key sectors such as security, agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development.

Lawal further expressed confidence in the newly elected leadership, urging them to approach their roles with integrity and a strong sense of responsibility. He noted that their emergence represents not just political victory but a call to service and accountability to the people.

In his acceptance speech, the new APC State Chairman, Kabiru Moyi B Magaji, pledged to promote internal democracy and foster unity within the party, assuring members of inclusive leadership.

The congress marks a significant step in consolidating party strength ahead of future political activities in the state.
