President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has described Tuesday state congress of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom as the most peaceful in Nigeria history.

The congress, held in Uyo, was supervised by the APC national delegation chaired by Austin Bako. The Independent National Electoral Commission was represented by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Obo Effanga.

Following the dissolution of the previous State Executive Committee led by Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, the congress adopted a consensus arrangement that retained Ntukekpo as State Chairman. Other members of the new executive include Aniekan Ekpo as Deputy State Chairman, Envoy Nsetim Akpabio as State Secretary, Augustine Udoh as Legal Adviser, and Patrick Edeke as State Publicity Secretary.

The consensus list was formally adopted after Senator Aniekan Bassey moved a motion, which was seconded by Clement Jimbo, paving the way for the affirmation of the new leadership in line with party guidelines.

Senator Akpabio commended the orderly conduct of the exercise, noting that previous congresses in the state were marked by disruptions. He described the development as unprecedented and a milestone in the political history of Akwa Ibom.

Speaking at the event, Governor Udom Emmanuel emphasized unity and inclusiveness within the party, stating that former rivals had embraced reconciliation under the APC platform. He assured members that those affected by structural ces would continue to enjoy due entitlements.

In his acceptance speech, Ntukekpo pledged transparency, fairness, and tireless service, promising to strengthen party cohesion ahead of future electoral contests, including preparations toward 2027.
