ADC Sets Conditions for PDP Alliance, Says Politics Must Serve the People

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has made it clear that any partnership with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections must be based on shared values—not just a desire to win.

Speaking to journalists, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, responded to comments made by PDP’s newly elected chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), who had earlier expressed openness to forming a broad coalition of opposition parties.

Abdullahi welcomed the idea but stressed that the ADC isn’t interested in joining forces just to grab power. He said the party’s goal is to ce how politics is done in Nigeria.

“We’ll be willing to work with any political party in Nigeria that is willing to subscribe to the philosophy of the ADC,” Abdullahi said. “We are not just interested in winning power for winning’s sake. We are more interested in resetting politics in Nigeria.”

He emphasized that any alliance must be built on the idea that politics should serve ordinary Nigerians, not just politicians. “If the purpose for working together is just to win power, then there is no point,” he added.

Abdullahi also said that opposition parties must unite to challenge the current government, which he believes has harmed the country’s values. But he insisted that such unity must come with a new way of doing things.

“It is not going to be business as usual,” he concluded. “Politics must be to the service of the people.”

  • Why should the ADC dictate terms for a PDP alliance? Politics should be about mutual respect and collaboration, not power plays.

  • Do you think the PDP alliance can truly prioritize serving the people over politics, or is it just empty rhetoric? Curious to hear your thoughts!

  • Im not convinced that the ADCs conditions are realistic. Politics serving the people sounds great, but can it actually happen?

  • Im not sure if the ADCs conditions for a PDP alliance are realistic. Politics serving the people sounds great, but can they deliver?

  • I think the ADCs conditions for a PDP alliance are fair, but shouldnt politics always serve the people anyway? #foodforthought 🤔

  • I think the ADCs conditions for a PDP alliance are too demanding. Politics should prioritize unity over strict conditions.
