Apple Music’s 2025 year-end charts have spotlighted the rise of Nigerian musical talent, particularly the dominance of Afrobeats artists on the global stage. Wizkid was named the Top Nigerian Artist of 2025, while his album “Morayo,” released in November 2024, took home the Album of the Year award. Featuring 16 tracks and collaborations with international stars like Jazmine Sullivan and Brent Faiyaz, “Morayo” maintained strong popularity throughout the year.

Asake’s “Why Love” emerged as the most-streamed song in Nigeria, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Released under his independent label, Giran Republic, the song achieved a number-one hit, making it one of the few Nigerian tracks to do so from an independent label and illustrating Asake’s growing significance in the industry.

The Top Songs of 2025 included other notable entries, such as Wizkid’s “Kese (Dance)” at number two and Davido’s “Funds,” featuring ODUMODUBLVCK and Chike, at number three. Asake and Wizkid’s collaboration “MMS” took the fourth spot, while Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You” rounded out the top five.

In the Top Albums category, Davido’s “5ive” and Asake’s “Lungu Boy” came in second and third, respectively, with additional entries from BNXN and Burna Boy completing the top five. These rankings showcase the vibrant and diverse landscape of the Nigerian music scene, highlighting both elished and emerging artists.

Overall, the success of these musicians on Apple Music’s charts reiterates the global appeal of Nigerian music and the platform’s role in promoting African talent, celebrating the thriving and evolving nature of the industry.
