Maverick singer Seun Kuti has ruled out any possibility of reconciliation with Afrobeats star Wizkid stating that their ongoing feud is permanent.
The disagreement between the two artistes began after Wizkid made comments suggesting he was greater than Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Seun Kuti’s late father. The remark sparked backlash, with Seun strongly defending his father’s legacy and criticising comparisons between contemporary Afrobeats stars and the iconic musician.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Seun Kuti made it clear that the situation remains unresolved and is unlikely to ce. He emphasised that the nature of the comments made about his father crossed a line that cannot be overlooked.
According to him, respect for his father’s legacy is non negotiable, and any perceived disrespect makes reconciliation impossible. He stated that while he has nothing further to say about Wizkid, the disagreement remains firmly in place.
The statement underscores the deep personal nature of the dispute which goes beyond music and touches on legacy identity and respect within Nigeria’s entertainment industry. It also reflects ongoing tensions between different generations and styles within the evolving Afrobeats scene.
