Wike’s PDP Camp Expels Top Party Leaders, Rejects Ibadan Convention

A new conflict has broken out in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the group loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike announced that several top members have been expelled from the party.

On Thursday, the faction released a statement saying those affected are no longer recognized in any capacity within the PDP. The notice, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, accused the expelled members of pretending to still hold positions in the party even after being removed.

The statement listed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, and several others as no longer valid members of the PDP. According to the group, the decision to expel them was made during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on November 18, 2025.

The faction said the action was based on accusations of anti-party behavior and serious misconduct. They claimed the move followed the rules in the party’s constitution.

They also warned the public not to deal with or recognize the expelled individuals as PDP representatives. The statement added that anyone who supports or works with them does so “at his or her own risk,” and the party will not accept any connection with them.

The Wike-aligned group also dismissed the recent PDP convention held in Ibadan, calling it a political event with no legal standing. They said the meeting did not follow court rulings and cannot be seen as an official national convention.

They added that anyone claiming to have become a national officer from the Ibadan gathering is “an impostor” and should not be taken seriously.

This latest move adds more tension to the ongoing power struggle within the PDP, as different groups continue to issue suspensions and counter-expulsions ahead of the 2027 elections.
