The Minister of the Nyesom Wike has dismissed claims of an alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement, describing the narrative as false and alleging that it is part of what he called “political 419” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the remarks on Thursday while speaking with journalists during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Gomani Yangoji, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory. He insisted that neither the PDP nor the Independent National Electoral Commission was aware of any such coalition arrangement.
According to him, the idea of a PDP APM alliance does not exist in reality and is being promoted by individuals for political gain. He maintained that ongoing internal processes within the PDP, including screening of aspirants, show that the party is still operating independently without any merger or coalition with other political parties.
Wike specifically accused Seyi Makinde of using the alleged arrangement to advance personal presidential ambitions, which he described as politically unrealistic. He also dismissed claims involving Bala Mohammed, stating that such narratives were not supported by facts within the party structure.
The FCT minister further stated that the PDP would eventually present its presidential candidate to INEC without any external influence or alliance arrangements. He maintained that speculation about internal party crisis or coalition politics was misleading and should be disregarded.
On broader political matters, Wike said issues concerning the ruling All Progressives Congress remain internal affairs and declined to comment further, stressing that he was focused on governance rather than political disputes.
During the inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of the 13 kilometre Gomani Yangoji road project, noting that it is expected to be completed in time for inauguration activities marking President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office.
He said the project reflects the administration’s commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda to extend infrastructure development beyond the city centre into satellite communities, with the aim of reducing rural urban migration and improving connectivity within the FCT.
