The family of Virginia Giuffre has criticised Britain’s former royal Prince Andrew following his arrest by United Kingdom police, declaring that “he was never a prince.”

In a statement to CBS News, Giuffre’s siblings said they felt a sense of relief at the news of the arrest, adding that no one is above the law, not even members of the royal family. They described the development as a moment of accountability and said Giuffre stood up for survivors everywhere.

Giuffre, who d by last year at the age of 41, had accused Andrew of ually abusing her when she was 17. She alleged that she was trafficked by convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein and forced to have with Andrew on three occasions. Andrew has consistently denied the allegations.

Police in the United Kingdom arrested Andrew Mountbatten Windsor on suion of misconduct linked to his time as a trade envoy. The move followed disclosures that reportedly suggested he had shared potentially confidential documents with Epstein.

The controversy surrounding Andrew’s ties to Epstein has sparked renewed public anger in Britain. In response to the unfolding events, King Charles III removed his brother’s remaining royal titles and honours and ordered that he vacate his residence on the royal estate at Windsor.

In 2022, Andrew reached a multi million pound settlement with Giuffre in a civil lawsuit filed in the United States. The agreement was made without any admission of liability.

The latest developments have reignited debate in the United Kingdom about accountability, privilege and justice within powerful institutions.
