President Donald Trump said on Friday that he feels honored to be targeting the leadership of Iran amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel.

Trump made the remarks in a post on Truth Social shortly after midnight in Washington, where he strongly criticized Iran’s leadership and defended the military campaign.

According to the US president, Iranian leaders had been responsible for violence against innocent people around the world for decades. He stated that as the 47th president of the United States, he considered it an honor to be confronting them.

The conflict, which reportedly began on February 28, has led to the deaths of several high ranking figures in Tehran. Among those reported ed is Iran’s longtime supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, along with other senior officials.

Trump also criticized media reports questioning the effectiveness of the military campaign. He argued that such coverage gives the wrong impression about the outcome of the conflict.

According to him, Iran’s military capabilities are being severely weakened and several of its leaders have been eliminated during the operation.

Trump further claimed that the United States possesses overwhelming military strength and sufficient resources to continue the campaign for as long as necessary.

Meanwhile, the US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, indicated that American forces planned to intensify military strikes against Iran.

Speaking during a press conference, Hegseth said the scale of s scheduled for Friday would exceed previous operations carried out since the start of the conflict.

He noted that the United States military expected to conduct the highest number of air strikes so far over Iran, including operations targeting locations in Tehran.

The situation has heightened global concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East, as observers warn that continued military action could further deilize the region and draw international reactions.
